How fantastic. Only 1400 miles and flaws are already revealing themselves.

BTW the glass is made in China if that makes a difference.

Thats very weird on such a new car, I’ve never heard of this happening. The only thing I can think of is that something like a rock hit it.

My dad told me he heard a small rock hit it, which is funny because on our other cars we’ve had very large rocks hit the windshield and no chips happen.

Could be just the way it hit or how fast it was moving. They can do some real damage if they’re moving fast enough. I've had a piece of plywood hit my windshield head on before on the highway and not even a chip.

I’m not sure about what exactly happened. I wasn’t in the car when it occurred.

Depending on the rock, speed and angle, I’ve seen very small rocks end up cracking glass pretty badly. I’ve also seen (original)(Swedish) glass go for hundreds of thousands of miles before warranting replacement due to pitting

Then again, in Colorado, windshields are seen as a consumable no matter what you drive

I wouldn’t exactly blame the crack on poor manufacturing

I examined the crack in greater detail just now. It appears a rock did hit the glass, but it only caused a chip about 1/16th of an inch in diameter. I guess the heat from today then caused the glass to crack further. (???)

Heh, I’m seeing that on my 850R. 214,000 miles on salted MN roads, and the windshield almost looks like it’s been sandblasted, but there’s not a chip or crack to be seen.

I’m thinking about having it replaced, but with the rest of the car being fairly worn-out, I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

Where are you at?

Florida law requires insurance to replace all windshields for free! No deductibles or hits on insurance!
